"Roots and Wings" competition
Narodowy Instytut Kultury i Dziedzictwa Wsi jest organizatorem konkursu na najlepszą pracę magisterską i doktorską na temat kultury i dziedzictwa obszarów wiejskich w Polsce pn.: „Korzenie i skrzydła”. W konkursie są oceniane prace doktorskie i magisterskie. Mogą być one zgłaszane przez autorów, promotorów, recenzentów, jednostki naukowe, instytucje kultury oraz organizacje pozarządowe.
The purpose of the competition is to support young scientists and their promoters - researchers of rural culture and heritage, and to stimulate the academic community to continue and intensify research in this field. Through our initiative, we also want to popularize the results of original scientific research devoted to this topic.
The competition implements the main tasks of the Institute, which include documenting, analyzing and multifaceted interpretation and popularization of rural heritage in the full spectrum. We want to strengthen the current of research on the intangible, material, historical and natural heritage of the Polish countryside, not only to protect spiritual values, traditional skills, historical and customary phenomena. Above all, however, we want to create scientifically underpinned systemic tools that will serve local identity as a significant factor in the development of rural areas in Poland.
Our Competition is aimed at students and graduates from a wide variety of fields of study in the humanities, social sciences or art sciences, including - applying folklore, ethnological and anthropological-cultural methodology in their thesis.
To date, we have completed 3 editions of the Competition.
