"Master and Apprentice" Scholarship Program

The "Master - Apprentice" Scholarship Program is aimed at folk artists from the territory of the Republic of Poland, both masters with distinguished achievements and adepts wishing to improve their skills. The goal of the program is to save local heritage and traditions and ensure the continuity of authentic folk art. The Fellowship's priorities concern educational projects that ensure the direct transmission of traditional artistic, craft and handicraft skills, made within the local community, with a special focus on skills in danger of disappearing.
The expected result of the completed educational projects is a work (or works) of folk art, folk handicrafts or handicrafts made by the adept, under the guidance of a master, demonstrating a high artistic level and proficiency in mastering the traditional skills that are the subject of the Scholarship.
NIKiDW wishes - through the foundation of the "Master - Student" Scholarship - ensure the continuity of the existence of authentic folk creativity, cultivated by folk artists from all over Poland, all ethnographic and cultural regions and subregions, all fields and specialties, national and ethnic minorities, living both in the countryside and in the city. For these reasons, the "Master - Pupil" Scholarship Program assumes the restoration of both the folk artist, folk creativity, and the direct transmission of tradition, to their rightful place in Polish culture and in the Polish system of values.
