Polish fairy tales, fables and legends turned out to be a very graceful subject for children and young people from Czestochowa and surrounding counties. They were a source of wonderful inspiration, which resulted in the submission of as many as 58 works in both categories. It is with great pleasure that we announce the results of the illustrator's contest "Fairy Tales in Folklore".
On May 31, 2021, a meeting of the Jury of the Competition was held, chaired by Mr. Jack Art, a painter from Częstochowa and curator of the Competition. The works submitted by children and young people were at a very high level, each member had his own favorites, and the awarding of specific places and honorable mentions was decided each time in democratic votes. After deliberations that lasted nearly two hours, the winners were selected. Here are the winners of the 1st edition of the Illustrator's Contest "To tell folk tales":

Konkurs zorganizował Narodowy Instytut Kultury i Dziedzictwa Wsi, pracami od początku do końca koordynowało częstochowskie biuro NIKiDW. Współorganizatorem był Oddział Krajowego Ośrodka Wsparcia Rolnictwa w Częstochowie. Honorowy Patronat objęła Sekretarz Stanu w Ministerstwie Rolnictwa i Rozwoju Wsi, Pani Anna Gembicka.
- I can safely say that the interest in the contest exceeded the imagination of the organizers. Traditional Polish fairy tales, fables and legends resulted in a lot of beautiful works and proved attractive to a young audience. We are very happy about this, because thanks to this the basic goal of the initiative was realized, which from the beginning was to reach children and young people with literature inspired by our native folk culture and to make them aware that it is equally, though I am not afraid to say perhaps even more, valuable as well-known foreign works. The imagination of the participants, the various techniques used, the ingenuity of the performance and, in many cases, the unquestionable illustrative qualities now inspire us to already think about the next edition, perhaps with a nationwide character, " comments Lukasz Gizynski Representative of NIKiDW in Czestochowa.
