Competition "Preserve traditions - (non)disappearing professions, skills and customs. Now wood" settled!

Jury Konkursu „Zachowaj tradycje – (nie)ginące zawody, umiejętności i obyczaje. Teraz drewno”, organizowanego przez Narodowy Instytut Kultury i Dziedzictwa Wsi, dokonało oceny prac nadesłanych do II etapu Konkursu. W każdej kategorii – I „Sztuka Ludowa”, II „Rękodzieło Ludowe”, III „Rzemiosło Ludowe” – ocenianych było po 11 prac, które przeszły I etap Konkursu. Ogólnie do Konkursu zostało zgłoszonych 154 prac z terenu całej Polski.

The works of art were evaluated by an eight-member panel of experts on their merits, in accordance with the criteria set forth in the rules of the Competition. The creator's skills and experience, workshop, working method, technique and tools used, patterns and forms used were taken into account. Also counted was the connection of the subject of the entry with local tradition, culture, region, community and history, the quality of the work, its aesthetic and artistic qualities. The subject of the Jury's evaluation was also the educational, promotional and marketing potential of the work - the possibility of using it to disseminate knowledge about traditional wood products, the professions and skills of their manufacture, their uses and qualities, as well as to shape interest in wooden products. The potential for transmitting skills to adepts interested in learning a craft, handicraft or folk art was also taken into account. Jury members also focused on evaluating the potential of the work to save unique and endangered skills in the field of folk art, folk handicrafts and crafts and their importance in preserving the heritage of rural areas and cities with agricultural traditions.
