The road leading Wladyslaw Reymont to the Nobel Prize began with an event of great importance to the rural community and beyond - a pilgrimage to Jasna Gora. He took part in the pilgrimage in 1894 - on the 100th anniversary of the Kosciuszko insurrection. His observations and impressions were first published in episodes in the pages of "Tygodnik Ilustrowany" and later published in book form.
The pilgrimage is still a very important event today, with about 250,000 people from all corners of the country coming to Czestochowa every year. For many of them, it is not only a spiritual experience, but also an opportunity to meet new people and places.
In view of the above, we have decided to announce the "In the Footsteps of Reymont to Jasna Gora" Contest, which aims to encourage pilgrims to share their accounts, memories, insights from their trek and participation in the festivities, just as the author of "Peasants" did a hundred years earlier.
The competition is open and aimed at residents of rural areas and rural-urban communities. Through it, we want to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Literature to Wladyslaw Reymont and popularize the writer's works. We are also keen to create an opportunity for participants to share their experiences of participating in pilgrimages to Jasna Góra.
The object of the "Śladami Reymonta na Jasną Góra" Competition is to write a memoir, a report, an account of a pilgrimage to Jasna Góra. You can attach (optionally) photographic documentation in electronic version in JPG format (as an attachment) to your application. Photographs will not be subject to competition evaluation, they will be used in the promotion of works.
