Zwykle od maja rusza z cyklem „Scena Letnia”, w ramach którego prezentuje folklor różnych regionów Polski. Jesienią zaprasza na Europejskie Dni Dziedzictwa, Warszawskie Święto Chleba i Święto Niepodległości. Serię wydarzeń plenerowych zamyka niezwykle barwny Jarmark Bożonarodzeniowy.. Instytut jest współorganizatorem lub partnerem wielu festiwali, jarmarków i przeglądów, na których prezentowana jest autentyczna kultura tradycyjna.
