Embroidery on the Cieszyn vitae

We will present another video about the participants of the Second Edition of the Scholarship Program for Folk Artists. Today we invite you to listen to the story of embroidered Cieszyn dresses and the revival of interest in the traditional costume of the Cieszyn region.

The purpose of the Folk Artists Fellowship is to support local heritage and traditions through a grant program for an individual folk artist, providing the opportunity to work on a work, which is important both from the point of view of its development and from the perspective of spreading knowledge of the unique skills and traditions associated with them, which are an important part of the identity of the local community. The Fellowship's priorities concern creative projects rooted in the local community of the folk artist, with a particular focus on skills and content in danger of disappearing.

Agnieszka Pawlitko of Cieszyn tells Agnieszka Pawlitko of Cieszyn about the preservation of the tradition of making vitae and gowns, collecting and recreating traditional patterns, family history and bourgeois women's costumes, and the difficulties in acquiring suitable materials for embroidering vitae.
