61st Beskid Culture Week

This year's festival of folklore and highland culture, according to tradition, will last nine days. From July 27 to August 4, nearly 100 ensembles from Poland and around the world will dance in Wisła, Szczyrk, Żywiec, Maków Podhalański, Oświęcim, as well as Ujsoły, Jabłonków and Istebna. This is one of the largest and at the same time oldest such events in
Europe!

58th National Festival of Folk Bands and Singers

The purpose of the Festival is to review, preserve and document the traditions of authentic repertoire, style of musicianship and folk singing, as well as to popularize and revive these traditions in society. The festival has the character of a competition.

Peasant community in church estates in the 16th-18th centuries

Between the 16th and 18th centuries there were towns and villages that belonged to church institutions. At the time, church villages accounted for about a fifth of the rural settlements in the Polish lands. Among peasants living in church estates, the community was quite diverse. The villages belonging to the clergy were inhabited by artisans, fishermen and gardeners, and mainly by peasants engaged in farming.

62 Wanda Szkulmowska's Pałuki Folk Art Competition Spring in Pałuki.

On Saturday, May 18, a ceremony was held to sum up the oldest folk art competition in Poland. It has been held in Szubin since 1963. The 62nd Wanda Szkulmowska Pałuki Spring Folk Art Competition was an opportunity for artists and those taking their first steps in the fields of embroidery, ornamentation and sculpture to undergo the evaluation of a jury chaired by Kinga Turska-Skowronek of the Ethnographic Museum in Toruń.

Family picnic on St. Isidore - patron saint of farmers

Saturday, May 18, the White Kurpie region was marked by a Family Picnic on St. Isidore - the patron saint of farmers. The event was opened by representatives of the organizers. The gathered residents and guests were addressed by the host of the Zatory municipality, Mayor Włodzimierz Kaczmarczyk, thanking NIKiDW for organizing this beautiful event.
