W sobotę, 24 sierpnia na placu przy Miejskim Centrum Kultury w Ciechocinku odbyła się potańcówka pod nazwą Kujawiaki w Ciechocinku zorganizowana przez Narodowy Instytut Kultury i Dziedzictwa Wsi i MCK w Ciechocinku.

Harvest Festival of Pulawska County in Wąwolnica

The Wąwolnica 2024 District Harvest Festival is behind us. The Central Agricultural Library Branch of NIKiDW in Puławy also joined in this annual celebration. The festivities included a thanksgiving mass in the Minor Basilica of St. Adalbert, a harvest parade, the sharing of bread, beautiful regional stands, tasty dishes and interesting performances by local bands.

Ahead of us is the XXXIII National Agricultural Exhibition

The 33rd edition of the National Agricultural Exhibition will be held in Częstochowa from August 31 to September 1. NIKiDW will participate in this event for the 5th time. The exhibition traditionally accompanies the National Harvest Festivities at Jasna Gora.

32nd edition of European Heritage Days

W sobotę, 14 września Narodowy Instytut Kultury i Dziedzictwa Wsi zaprasza na wyjątkowe spotkanie ze stypendystami NIKiDW w ramach 32 edycji Europejskich Dni Dziedzictwa. W tym roku EDD jest organizowane pod hasłem „Szlaki. Sieci. Połączenia”.  Wydarzenie odbędzie się w siedzibie Instytutu przy ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 66 w godzinach 13.00 – 18.00.

Embroidery - an unusual decoration of Polish folk costumes

Even in medieval courts and palaces, white women spent long hours sewing and embroidering. Over time, these skills began to spread to other social classes. The peak period of Polish folk costume, and thus its ornamentation, was at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. At that time, wealthier villagers began to decorate their clothing more and more. Over time, simple patterns evolved into elaborate motifs, which later became the hallmark of a particular ethnographic group.

Highlanders of all countries

The 55th International Festival of the Folklore of the Mountain Lands was held in Zakopane from August 16 to 22. The theme of this year's edition was "Rituals and customs of the Carpathian peoples and highlanders of the world." NIKiDW was a co-organizer of the event.

Harvest time - a time of celebration

The harvest used to be a real holiday in the Polish countryside. Their sacred character was externalized in a number of customs, behavioral patterns and ritual activities. They were the culmination of the farmer's work and heralded an improvement in their livelihood.
