Weddings were held only in "lucky" months, that is, only those that included the letter "r" in their name. The newlyweds, leaving the church after the wedding ceremony, were showered with grain or rice, which was intended to bring the young couple prosperity.

Polonaises were already created by Baroque composers, including Johann Sebastian Bach. At the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, like Italian and French dances, it began to be very fashionable. Due to its nobility it reigned at European courts. Today in Poland it is a traditional dance that opens school balls, such as proms. It is also danced during other important celebrations and anniversaries.
