The workshop was held in an extremely cordial atmosphere, which fostered integration and exchange of ideas among the participants, who were able to share their experiences
and inspirations. Experienced instructors, from various fields of art from the White and Green Forest areas, conducted workshops and demonstrations of handicrafts and folk crafts. Halina Witkowska from the White Forest organized classes on creating traditional Easter eggs and bead embroidery. Beata Pasinska led a workshop on embroidery on canvas. Czeslawa Kaczynska of Puszcza Zielona presented Kurpie cut-outs
and demonstrated techniques for cutting them out, as well as giving instruction in making tissue paper curtains. Wieslaw Kuskowski introduced participants to braiding tools and wicker weaving methods and gave a demonstration of making a wicker basket.
All guests were entertained by Edward Koziatek, playing traditional melodies from the White and Green Kurpie areas on the accordion.
During the workshop, ethnographer Sylwia Słojkowska-Affelska prepared an exhibition of cut-outs, embroidery, Kurpie spiders, and introduced the ways in which members of KGWs from the Kurpie borderland use their cultural heritage, tangible and intangible.
The workshop proved to be a valuable initiative. They not only strengthened the creative skills of KGW members, but also contributed to strengthening cooperation between local communities. Participants were eager to exchange experiences, both in terms of handicrafts and everyday life. There was no shortage of smiles, shared conversations and, most importantly, pride in preserving and passing on local traditions to younger generations.
The event was a great success and received very positive feedback, which gives hope for the organization of similar meetings in the future.
