On November 30, the Szubin House of Culture in Szubin will host a dance reminiscent of the games formerly held on St. Andrew's Eve.
The event will begin at 5pm with a folk dance workshop led by Dominik Wóltanski. The Paluki region is primarily famous for its whirling dances danced in pairs, with the rhythm of mazurka and polka. Round and circle dances were also popular, as well as cheers and walks. Traditionally, obereks, kujawiaks, sheepdogs and reinlenders were also popularly performed.
At the party, to dance, Piekielnica, Departures and Agregandado will play. In ancient culture, the evening of St. Andrew's Day was an occasion for fortune-telling and dancing. In the Paluki region, dance parties were once very popular and musicians were respected among the community. The bands that will perform in Szubin are restoring these traditions, drawing songs for dances from musicians and surviving sources. The entertainment will last until 9:00 pm.
